It has become necessary to carry out some building repairs to the The Archway to eradicate the dampness in one external wall, and eliminate the consequential problems associated with this. At the same time, some other upgrade work will be carried out internally. None of this work should alter the historic character of the house; the heat insulation should be improved. However, the process of carrying out the work is likely to be somewhat messy. I have temporarily moved to a friend's flat in the vicinity from where I can continue to see clients and work as normal. Telephone calls are being re-routed and the postal address remains unchanged. Hopefully, the work will be completed within a few weeks. April update: This work has become more extensive than first envisaged and has required a structural survey and some strengthening to the house. Listed building consent is now required before the additional work can be carried out. I am returning to partially re-occupy the house shortly and will then be able to see clients as usual. There may be a short interruption when the structural work is undertaken. During this period I am unable to accommodate guests on retreat. |
